Who we are
Why & Wherefore Ltd is responsible for the personal information on this page. Contact us at flo@whyandwherefore.com.
This website
Our host, Cloudflare, processes your IP address to deliver the site and protect it from attacks, sometimes outside the UK, under the safeguards UK law requires.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It records which page you viewed, the site that sent you here, your browser type, your country and how quickly the page loaded. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and doesn’t use your IP address or browser details to identify you or follow you across other sites. We only see totals. Our legal basis is legitimate interests: knowing which pages people read helps us improve the site.
If you’d rather not be counted, block static.cloudflareinsights.com in your browser or turn off JavaScript. The site works the same without it.
When you email us
We keep your name, email address and what you tell us, so we can reply. Our legal basis is legitimate interests: you’ve written to us and expect an answer.
If we work together
We keep contact details, agreements, invoices and our notes from the work. We need these to carry out our contract with you, and the law requires us to keep financial records.
Who else sees it
Only the services we use to run the business: our email provider, web host, bank and accountant. We don’t sell your information or add you to a mailing list.
How long we keep it
- Emails that don’t lead to work: two years from our last contact, then deleted.
- Client records: six years from the end of the financial year the work finished in, as HMRC requires.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, delete it, stop using it, or send it to you in a portable format. Email us and we’ll reply within a month, free of charge.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, tell us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
